Showcasing Our Technologies at BIO International Convention 2026

Our company exhibited at the “Japan Pavilion,” organized by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), at the “BIO International Convention 2026,” held in San Diego, California, from June 22 to 25, 2026.As one of the world's largest biotechnology events, BIO International Convention brings together leading pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, research institutions, and investors from around the globe.

As a University of Tokyo spin-out startup, Gel Coat Biomaterials showcased its proprietary technologies based on its unique zwitterionic hydrogel platform, including Biologics Stabilization Technology and Surface Functionalization Technology. Throughout the exhibition, we had the opportunity to engage with researchers and industry professionals from North America, Europe, Asia, and other regions worldwide.

During the event, we welcomed numerous visitors to our booth and held productive discussions with companies and research organizations across a wide range of application areas, including biopharmaceutical development, diagnostics, regenerative medicine, medical devices, semiconductors, and industrial technologies. These conversations demonstrated the broad potential of our technologies to address challenges across multiple industries.

In particular, our biologics stabilization technology for preserving sensitive biomolecules and our surface functionalization technology for preventing microbial adhesion attracted significant interest. We exchanged ideas on potential collaborations, technology evaluations, proof-of-concept (PoC) projects, and joint research opportunities, laying the foundation for future global partnerships.

Participating in BIO International Convention 2026 reaffirmed the strong international interest in our technologies and provided valuable opportunities to establish new relationships with partners around the world.

CEO's Message

As this was the first trade show where we showcased our newly developed biomolecule stabilization and surface modification technologies, it proved to be a highly fruitful event. We attracted strong interest from many companies and received concrete proposals and enthusiastic offers of collaboration. We were able to establish numerous strong new connections, and some meetings—which followed up on discussions from last year—progressed to in-depth collaboration discussions. Through this trade show, we feel we have made significant strides as a platform provider for the biotech industry.
